Dental Implants

Considered as the premium option for replacing missing teeth, dental implants are artificial tooth roots that support a crown, bridge or dentures.

Why should I choose dental implants?

There are many reasons to opt for dental implants. They are a permanent means of securing crowns, bridges or dentures into position, so you won’t ever have to worry about them slipping when you eat and hindering your speech, nor will tougher foods be off limits to you.

Replacing teeth with dental implants offers the most natural and long term solution to replacing teeth.

How will I know if I am suitable for dental implants?

During your consultation, we’ll be able to let you know if you’re suitable for dental implants after studying your medical history and examining the general health of your smile. This will also involve checking if you have sufficient healthy jawbone to support an implant.

How are dental implants placed?

Dental implants are surgically placed directly into your jawbone.

Is it painful?

The wonders of modern technology and treatment techniques mean the dental implant process of today causes little discomfort. During the surgical procedure to place the implant, you’ll be given a local anaesthetic to numb the area and will only feel a bit of pressure throughout.

We’re able to offer patients the option of IV (intravenous) sedation, which will help to relax you whilst you undergo a particular treatment. IV sedation is incredibly effective at inducing a relaxing and calming effect, and patients who opt for sedation even just once, find they no longer need it in the future.

How much do Implants cost?

What to expect when having a dental implant?

All implant treatments involve one or more surgical procedures to have them placed. Diagnostic information like CT scans, photographs, X-rays and impressions are taken, so a crown, implant-retained bridge or dentures can be made to go on top of your implant/s which are secured firmly in place by a connecting element called an abutment. Your restoration is designed and made just for you by a highly skilled dental technician.

How do I take care of my implant?

We will always offer aftercare advice to patients following the dental implant procedure, as it’s important to us that you feel confident in caring for your newly restored tooth independently. Once it has healed, you can look after an implant just as you would a real tooth. Be sure never to miss your routine dentist and hygienist appointments, as these play an indispensable role in ensuring your implant stays in great shape.
