Dr. Nikil Patel

Before embarking on a career in dentistry, Nikil completed a first-class honours degree in Optometry from City University London.
Nikil graduated from Kings College London with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree, having won three undergraduate prizes in clinical and academic work. Following this, he completed his foundation training in Surrey, where he also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Dental Care from the University of Kent.
To further his knowledge and understanding of dentistry, he then embarked on an Oral & Maxillofacial program, which rotated at the Eastman’s Dental Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College Hospital, during which he gained valuable surgical experience with both adults and children. This year, I worked in the Restorative Department at King’s College Hospital, providing detailed insight into complex restorative needs and the ability to rehabilitate the whole mouth using all three major restorative disciplines. During this time working in a hospital, he obtained his Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
It was the combination of surgical and restorative aspects of dentistry that drew him towards periodontology, the study and treatment of gum disease. After working in mixed practice for 2 years following this in Southeast London, he started his 4-year full-time specialist training in periodontology at King’s College London, which he is currently completing alongside working in practice limited to periodontics.
Outside of dentistry, Nikil is a keen hiker and loves exploring the sites of the UK on foot. He enjoys playing badminton and is a huge cricket fan. If he’s not doing any of the above, then you’ll find him listening to a variety of music that spans the decades.
