Facial Aesthetics

Facial aesthetics treatments are a non-surgical means of making natural-looking enhancement and changes to your facial features and skin. Treatments under the umbrella of facial aesthetics can restore youth and beauty, most commonly to the face and neck area.

What are facial aesthetics for?

The following treatments are all classed as facial aesthetics treatments and can benefit patients in different ways.

Examples of facial aesthetic treatments include:

  • Anti-wrinkle Treatment: contains botulinum toxin, which temporarily blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles. The muscle then ceases to contract, making wrinkles relax and soften. Anti-wrinkle treatment can result in younger-looking skin with less fine lines and wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle Treatment is most commonly used for areas of the face like forehead lines, crow’s feet (lines around the eyes) and frown lines.
  • Dermaroller: treatment uses a device that’s rolled across the skin, which triggers the body’s own healing response. This process results in smoother, younger-looking and more collagen-rich skin.
  • Dermal Fillers: are injectable gels used to fill deep wrinkles and folds that exist across areas of the face. The fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that exists in the skin naturally and is responsible for retaining water and keeping it youthful-looking. As we age, the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid depletes, causing the onset of wrinkles and folds.

How long do facial aesthetics last?

The length of time the effects of facial aesthetic treatment lasts will depend on the type of treatment you opt for, the types of products used, how often you have treatment, your genetics, and your lifestyle.

  • Anti-wrinkle treatment: the effects of anti-wrinkle treatment commonly last between 3-6 months, with the average time being around 4 months.
  • Dermal fillers: treatment can last anywhere between 6-18 months.
  • Dermaroller: visible results will manifest within 6-8 weeks of treatment, and the full results of treatments will ensue over the months that follow. Whilst a single treatment can noticeably improve the quality of your skin, 2-3 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart are recommended for top results.

What is the process of having facial aesthetics?

Anti-wrinkle, dermal fillers and dermaroller treatment all involve an initial consultation, during which you are asked about your medical history, to ensure you are suitable for treatment. The risks and benefits of each treatment will be clearly outlined, and we will answer any questions you may have. We will also ask you what you dislike about your features and examine your face and skin from multiple angles, so we can create a bespoke plan that addresses your unique concerns.

Anti-wrinkle treatment:

  • Your face is cleaned to remove makeup and surface debris and bacteria.
  • A numbing cream is applied to the relevant areas of skin, to ensure you do not experience any discomfort during treatment.
  • The treatment are administered using a very fine needle.

Dermal fillers:

  • Your face is cleaned to remove makeup and surface debris and bacteria.
  • A numbing cream is applied to the areas that will be administered with fillers to ensure you don’t feel any discomfort.
  • The fillers are administered using a very fine needle.

Dermaroller:

  • Your face is cleaned to remove makeup and surface debris and bacteria.
  • A topical cream is used to numb the skin and left for 30 minutes to take effect.
  • A special skin rejuvenation treatment solution is applied to the skin to make sure the dermaroller passes smoothly over the skin.
  • The dermaroller is passed over the skin, with the ultrafine needles penetrating the skin smoothly and quickly.

These treatments do not require patients to take time out to recover afterwards, making them a viable less-invasive option to surgery.

However, please note the following when it comes to sun exposure post-treatment:

  • Dermal fillers: avoid sunbeds and sunbathing for a week after treatment.
  • Anti-wrinkle treatment: you should wait at least 4 hours before using sunbeds after anti-wrinkle treatment. You can sunbathe immediately after treatment, but be sure to use sunscreen with a high SPF.
  • Dermaroller: sunbathing and use of sunbeds should be avoided for at least 2 weeks after treatment. Use suncream with a high SPF whenever you go out into the sun during the first 2 weeks, even if you are only exposed for a short time.

Patients can go back to their normal activities as soon as anti-wrinkle, dermaroller and dermal fillers treatment is complete.
